Largemouth Bass

Largemouth Bass are one of the most sought after game fish in the United States. This is due to the intense fight they often give when being caught. Fishermen commonly catch largemouth bass using lures such as rubber worms, spinnerbaits, jigs and crankbaits. Live baits such as nightcrawlers, worms, shiners, minnows, frogs and crawfish are also used by some bass fisherman. A wide variety of techniques are used for catching bass. We will be adding fishing tips for bass shortly.

Largemouth Bass typically spawn in late spring to early summer when water temperatures reach near 60 degrees farenheit. They typically spawn in one to four feet of water in a bed made by the male bass. Young largemouth bass eat mostly small bait-fish and insects. Adults eat smaller fish(including small bass), crawdads, salamanders, frogs, and snakes. Largemouth bass can live up to 23 years. The world record for the biggest largemouth bass was 22.25 pounds and was caught in 1932 at Georgia's Montgomery Lake by George Washington Perry.
