Spotted Sea Trout

 Spotted sea trout can be found from the Gulf of mexico to as far north as New York. They typically stay near shore and will move up coastal rivers in the winter. Ideal water temperatures for the spotted sea trout are 65 to 75 degrees farenheit.  Spotted sea trout typically spawn from may to early September. The males produce a drumming sound to attract the females during this time. They grow to an average size of 1 to 2 pounds but 5 to 6 pound spotted sea trout are not uncommon. The world record was caught in Florida and weighed 17 lbs. 7 oz.

You can catch spotted sea trout using baitcasting, spinning or flyfishing techniques. The most effective forms of live bait include shrimp and small fish. Artificial lures most commonly used are spoons, plastics and jigs.

 

Walleye

The Walleye is native to most of the United States and Canada. They are typically a cool-water fish and can be found mostly over sand or gravel. They sometimes go near vegetation but not into it.Walleyes typically spawn when water temperatures reach 40 to 50 degrees farenheit in late winter to early spring. Adults 3-5 years of age will migrate mostly to tributary streams where they will nest in sand, gravel or rock.

 

Walleye will feed mostly on smaller fish from the time they are born as well as when they grow to monster size. They have also been known to eat crayfish, minnows, leeches, and earthworms. They tend to feed mostly at dawn and dusk. Walleye fishing also tends to be better when the water is choppy because less light penetrates the surface of the water. How to catch walleye is with lures ranging from minnows such as the Rapala to spinners and jigs. Live bait such as minnows, crayfish and earthworms can also be quite effective.

 

 Rainbow TroutTrout could originally be be found in North America, northern Asia and Europe. They have since been introduced to Australia and New Zealand.  Trout are typically found in 50 to 60 degree water and can be found in both lakes and streams.Trout typically spawn in the fall ind sandy areas along a lake shore or a tributary. They typically feed on minnows, crayfish, fish eggs and insects.

There are many different options how to catch trout, including using different tackle and techniques. While fly fishing is one of the most effective ways to fish for trout there are also other alternatives. Using spinners or small minnow lures can produce some good results. Smallmouth Bass

The Smallmouth Bass is regarded a hard fighting fish that many fisherman will say is the best fight there is when compared pound for pound with other game fish.  Smallmouth Bass can be found in cool water lakes and steams throughout North America and Canada. They typically feed on insects, crayfish and smaller fish. The world record for the largest smallmouth is 11 lbs. 15 oz. and was caught by D. L. Hayes at Dale Hollow  Reservoir in Tennessee.

Smallmouth bass spawn in late spring and early summer when water temperatures reach between 55 and 65 degrees farenheit. Females spawn in nests created by the males, usually in two to twenty feet of water. After laying the eggs the female will leave the nest to the male who will gaurd the nest and then the young for a couple weeks after hatching.

Smallmouths can be found in both deep and shallow waters but the larger fish are usually found deeper. It is hard to say exactly how to catch smallmouth bass, but using a variety of tackle, tips and techniques including live baits and lures, will surely help you land big fish. Some good live baits are crayfish, minnows, nightcrawlers. Artificial lures that work well are spinners, rubber worms, jiggs, crankbaits and topwater lures.

 

 

Salmon

The Coho Salmon is one of the most popular gamefish in the Pacific Northwest. They can be found throughout the Northern Pacific Ocean as well as in the Great Lakes and other landlocked lakes within the United States.

Salmon are typically born in freshwater. They then migrate to the ocean, only to return to freshwater, where they reproduce. The female Salmon will then die within days of reproducing.

 

Coho Salmon when, living in fresh water, typically feed on plankton and insects. When the salmon move to the ocean their diet becomes mostly small fish. How to catch salmon is by using a variety of tackle and techniques. Some of these are trolling, casting, jigging and fly fishing.
